Senior Legal Counsel, US Lending and Finance – Vice President Location: New York, NY

Base pay range: $170,000.00/yr - $254,500.00/yr

Overview This position requires a skilled lawyer to provide legal advice to various investment banking trading and lending desks, including supervising outside counsel. You will be part of the Bank’s lending, finance and securities coverage team within the investment bank, negotiating transaction documents and providing legal advice and risk assessments for complex transactions, including cross-border transactions.

What You’ll Do

Broad transactional coverage of the Firm’s Leverage Debt Capital Markets (LDCM), structured finance, direct lending and asset backed lending within the Deutsche Bank Investment Bank

Draft, review, and advise on a wide variety of lending documents and structured finance, including warehouse lending transactions and related loan products

Advise structuring groups on the legal and regulatory framework governing lending markets; assist in regulatory reviews for capital relief and compliance with certain German and EU legal requirements

Work autonomously with various structuring groups to structure transactions that meet internal and client objectives and manage multiple transactions on accelerated schedules

How You’ll Lead

Provide advice to senior Legal Department management on transactional legal requirements, best practices and technology tools and solutions

Collaborate with colleagues globally in the Bank’s Legal Department, TDI function and other infrastructure functions

Skills You’ll Need

At least moderate experience in lending and structured finance; in-house counsel experience preferred; background in cross-border lending (including LATAM borrowers) is a plus; strong analytical and drafting skills; New York qualified (and/or English qualified); ability to work independently

Admission to the New York State Bar or otherwise qualified to practice law in New York as registered in-house counsel

Excellent judgment and ability to advise on legal risks and requirements within a business context

Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills

Prior in-house or law firm experience with financial services is a plus

Ability to collaborate, cooperate and work well with others in a respectful manner

Ability to handle and strategically prioritize numerous projects and tasks

Experience operating in a fast-paced business environment

Expectations The Bank’s expectation is that employees hired into this role will work in the New York City office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $170,000 to $254,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
