Overview
The Research Consultant will operate under the direction of a Research Assistant Professor (Dr. Christina Zhao) in the Lab for Early Auditory Perception, housed within the Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences (I-LABS) at the University of Washington. The main purpose of this position is to provide overall support to a NIDCD-funded research project (PI: Zhao), including help on developing assessment protocols, conducting clinical assessment for research participants, and generating assessment evaluation. This position requires technical training and clinical experience as a Speech Language Pathologist to work independently with participating children and conduct speech and language assessment and provide evaluation reports. Experience in research settings with implementation of research studies, interacting with participating families, and collecting research data from human participants is required. The position is crucial for carrying out the NIDCD-funded project, with success contributing to the PI’s career development and potential future grant applications. Costs associated with grants directly benefit the University of Washington financially and academically. Duties & Responsibilities
Collect and manage experimental data (80% of time) Review data collection instruments to ensure data integrity Utilize standardized instruments to perform clinical assessment of speech and language skills in participating children Implement data collection quality assurance protocols Evaluate data and generate reports of participants’ performance Enter assessment data into lab database; ensure compliance with UW Human Subjects guidelines for handling research participant data Study design (10% of time) Help develop assessment protocols Assist in developing informed consent forms that satisfy UW IRB guidelines Result dissemination (10% of time) Contributes to the writing and editing of scientific manuscripts Develops reports for faculty PI concerning data results As needed, make presentations of results to colleagues and funders Minimum Qualifications
