Overview
LifeSource is hiring a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to serve as a key advisor and collaborator to leadership within LifeSource, aligning people strategies with the organization’s mission to save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation. This role supports a highly specialized workforce including clinical recovery teams, family services, and transplant coordination, as well as corporate functions, ensuring HR practices foster resilience, compliance, and excellence in a 24/7 healthcare environment. Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment & Workforce Planning: Partner with executive and operational leaders to align HR strategies with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and donor family support initiatives. Strategic Alignment & Workforce Planning: Serve as a thought partner for the leaders in the areas of support. Strategic Alignment & Workforce Planning: Provide coaching and guidance to leaders and team members. Strategic Alignment & Workforce Planning: Lead workforce planning efforts to ensure adequate staffing for on-call clinical teams, transplant coordinators, and support staff. Strategic Alignment & Workforce Planning: Use data analytics to forecast workforce needs and identify trends in turnover, engagement, and performance. Talent Management & Development: Support onboarding and ongoing training programs tailored to the emotional and technical demands of OPO work. Talent Management & Development: Facilitate leadership development, talent assessments, and succession planning for critical roles in donation services and operations. Talent Management & Development: Coach leaders on professional development plans and conversations. Talent Management & Development: Guide in-line promotional conversations to ensure qualifications and timing are correct. Identify the process for backfill if necessary. Talent Management & Development: Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to recruit and retain mission-driven professionals in clinical, technical, and administrative roles. Employee Engagement & Culture: Champion a culture of compassion, accountability, and continuous improvement. Employee Engagement & Culture: Develop initiatives to support employee well-being, especially for staff exposed to trauma and grief. Employee Engagement & Culture: Monitor engagement metrics and implement strategies to enhance morale and retention. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure HR policies and practices comply with federal and state regulations, including CMS, UNOS, OSHA, and HIPAA. Compliance & Risk Management: Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to support audits, investigations, and corrective action plans. Compliance & Risk Management: Manage sensitive employee relations issues with discretion and empathy. Operational HR Excellence: Serve as a liaison between business units and the People & Culture team members to deliver consistent and effective services. Operational HR Excellence: Leverage HRIS systems to streamline processes and improve data accuracy. Operational HR Excellence: Support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives across the organization. Qualifications
Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to 7 years of progressive human resources responsibilities. Requires a minimum of 3 years of prior experience in a HR Business Partner role. Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build strong relationships by using listening skills, asking questions to get to the root cause or need, and following through on commitments. Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of quality, integrity, and honor confidentiality of appropriate information including, but not limited to, personal team member data, organizational operations or work processes, donor and donor family information, contributor details, any financial information and medical or protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Proven skilled and competent in using technology-based tools such as personal computers, related software, mobile devices, and HRIS systems, as appropriate for position. Ability to handle difficult situations with confidentiality and professionalism. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. Must be organized, detail oriented, possess strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, healthcare administration, or related field. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP). Ability to thrive in a mission-driven, emotionally complex environment. Experience working in or with an Organ Procurement Organization (OPO), transplant center, or healthcare, nonprofit, or regulated environment. Understanding of healthcare operations, trauma-informed care, or regulatory frameworks relevant to organ procurement organizations (OPOs). Proven self-directed, motivated contributor with a strong initiative and ability to function autonomously, establish priorities and work effectively within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively establish standards, practices, policies and procedures consistent with laws and regulations, including in the areas of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO and other standards, legislation and trends that affect HR practices. Working Conditions
This role is based in Minneapolis, MN. Hybrid expectations of a minimum 3 days per week on-site. Full-time. Primary scheduled hours are during normal business hours but may flex to accommodate organizational or candidate needs. May require occasional weekends and evenings, as appropriate or needed. Must be able to travel locally to community organizations and recruiting events, and occasionally to national events and meetings, as needed.
