Here Is What You Will Do The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall project development and management of university functions for new construction and renovations. Plans and manages all projects within the assigned area from inception to completion. Retains external design services; coordinates internal and external architectural, engineering, and other professional resources. Ensures timely project completion; controls quality and costs; communicates with customers. Monitors campus activities for compliance with all state, federal, and municipal codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

Meets with University clients to determine programming needs, prepares, and maintains project schedules and budget, and is the central point of communication among the client, designer, contractor, and outside vendors.

Coordinates with the University and senior administrators on selecting architects/engineers directs and reviews the work of the selected design professional, maintains projects budgets, develops bid packages, and assists in awarding the construction contract and administering construction administration.

Works with university clients and the Board of Regents to define programs, accomplish design, and complete construction projects for capital projects and large‑scale renovations.

Reviews drawings and coordinates review sessions with all parties involved to ensure all criteria are met during the design development process.

Monitors construction progress, including oversight at project meetings, and makes payments to the contractor, architects, and engineers at appropriate times.

Assists Contractor, Facilities, and Architect/Engineer in solving problems encountered during construction or everyday operations.

Selects and manages architects and engineers to provide drawings for the university that will meet the end user's needs and meet code and university design standards and the project budget.

Acts as liaison with Renovations and Maintenance Departments as required. Actively promotes unity and harmony between FDCS, Facilities Maintenance & Operations, and the Planning groups, as well as Safety and Risk Management and IS & T.

Coordinates work assignments between these departments and other managers, administrators, and professionals.

Assures that projects are completed on time and within budget. Tracks and reports project progress against established metrics and goals.

Assures that project deliverables and documentation are submitted timely, accurately, and in accordance with University policies and practices.

Initiates and manages qualification and selection process for Design/Build, Construction Manager at Risk, and Design/Bid/Build projects.

Plans for compliance with various project entitles, i.e., Urban Planning, Atlanta City Hall, private ownership groups or lease build out, etc.

Works closely with Purchasing to place projects for bidding and assists with the bidding process and contract award. Responsible for producing RFQ/RFP & Bid Packages for assigned projects.

Provides price estimates to end users as needed.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Requirements

Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or architecture from an accredited university.

Architectural or Interior Design registration, Professional Engineering license, or PMP preferred.

Four years of experience with a general contractor, architectural project management firm, or higher education facilities project management unit.
