Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced Charge RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring charge and telemetry experience, with an active IN or Compact RN license.

Responsibilities Work in the cardiac and medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a short-term acute care hospital True ICU stepdown unit managing heart cath patients and those requiring BiPAP, cardiac and vasoactive drips Patient ratios: 3:1 typical, up to 4:1; Charge RNs may have a 2:1 assignment if required Night shifts (3x12s), block scheduling Friday through Sunday PCU nurses are required to float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed No on-call responsibilities Uses Cerner charting system Scrub colors are red tops and black bottoms Charge RNs will take a limited patient assignment if staffing requires Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays All travelers must float to different units or affiliate hospitals as needed First-time travelers are welcome to apply Returning permanent or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler Auto-approval for up to 5 days of non-holiday requested time off Free parking is available BiPAP, Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio, and cardiac crisis criteria experience are part of core responsibilities

Requirements Active IN or Compact RN license in hand prior to start 18 months of recent PCU or ICU stepdown RN experience required Recent charge nurse experience required Certifications required: ACLS and BLS (NIHSS preferred) Experience in telemetry, IV start, cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy required University must be accredited by the ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation Vents, conscious sedation, and previous charge RN experience preferred Two supervisor references required for consideration Local candidates not accepted for PCU positions
