Portuguese - Part-Time Lecturer Pool The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in Portuguese to teach lower-division (100- and 200-level) undergraduate courses in Portuguese. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice. Responsibilities

Teach lower-division undergraduate courses in Portuguese (100- and 200-level). Serve as part of a pool to be drawn on as necessary for department needs. Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold at least a master's degree in Portuguese or a related field and possess native-like fluency in Portuguese. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students. This position requires the legal right to work in the United States. California State University, Fullerton cannot sponsor part-time faculty for work visas or permanent residence. Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching. Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from mid-January through the end of May. On rare occasions, part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments. Performance Evaluation

Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are conducted in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future teaching assignments, and syllabi, assignments and reading material may be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee. Appointment and Salary

All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range not to exceed $6,221 per month. Salaries are prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments per full semester.
