According to the ACGME Institutional Requirements, the purpose of graduate medical education (GME) is to provide an organized educational program with guidance and supervision of the resident, facilitating the resident’s ethical, professional and personal development while ensuring safe and appropriate care for patients. The Residency Program Director will help establish, build and lead the Neurology Residency program for the Bakersfield community. The position includes leadership, administrative, teaching and patient care responsibilities. Focus areas of the GME expansion include: Diversify the physician workforce and address the national physician shortage Concentrate training opportunities on primary care Focus on inequities in healthcare, including racial inequities and care for medically underserved and vulnerable populations Join the national initiative to train 300 additional underrepresented minority providers annually Job Summary and Responsibilities As described above, the Residency Program Director will establish, build and lead the Neurology Residency program for the Bakersfield community, with leadership, administrative, teaching and patient care responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications Specialty expertise and a minimum of three (3) years of documented educational and/or administrative experience Education Required: MD or DO degree from an accredited school A current and valid license as physician and surgeon in the state of California Preferred Qualifications Minimum five (5) years of experience in teaching in a residency program preferred. Ideal candidates will have experience as a Core Faculty, Associate Director or Director of a Neurology Residency Where You'll Work
Bakersfield Memorial Hospital includes 385 general acute beds, 48 licensed critical care beds, 13 state-of-the-art surgical suites and a full-service Emergency Department with an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Nationally Certified Stroke Center.
