Become a key member of a team of homeland security professionals responsible for all import requirements. Determine admissibility of merchandise and make other import-related decisions. Screen entry document packages for full range of regulatory and legal requirements. Verify tariff classification and appraise imported articles and products. Support activities across CBP’s Centers of Excellence and Expertise and related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as explaining procedures to elicit cooperative response; gathering, organizing, and evaluating facts and evidence; and applying specialized knowledge of laws, regulations, rulings, or instructions pertaining to importation of merchandise into the United States. Education Substitution: Successful completion of one year of full-time graduate education or Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) may substitute for the experience. Combining Education and Experience: Appropriate combinations of post-high school education and experience may be used to meet the total qualification requirements. Convert to percentages and ensure the total equals at least 100%. Other requirements: U.S. citizenship; Selective Service registration (males born after 12/31/1959); background investigation; English pre-employment requirements; and compliance with DHS Drug-Free Workplace and ethics standards. Training: Seven weeks of paid training at the CBP Trade and Cargo Training Academy in Charleston, SC is required as a condition of employment. Additional Information
