The Opportunity We are seeking a Manager, Business Development & Marketing (Cybersecurity & Data Privacy) to join our Washington, D.C. office. The Manager holds a pivotal role within Skadden's Regulatory Business Development team, focusing on the Firm's global Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice. Responsibilities include leading business development initiatives and strategies, driving new client development, existing client growth, inbound and outbound cross-selling, and delivering high-level proposals, RFPs, and other business development materials. This role is based in Washington, D.C. with a hybrid in-office/remote schedule. Responsibilities Initiate, design and execute business development strategies for partners and counsel in the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice firmwide. Collaborate with the Director of Business Development, Regulatory, practice leaders, partners and counsel, and the Business Development & Marketing (BDM) Department to protect and grow client relationships. Drive revenue generation initiatives including client targeting, sales pipelines, sector/industry initiatives and key accounts. Coordinate and execute business development objectives with Marketing, Communications, Events and Strategic Intelligence teams. Lead and contribute to high-quality pitches, RFP responses and presentations. Collaborate across practice areas and international teams on cross-practice opportunities. Coach partners on business development initiatives and client presentation preparation. Facilitate integration of lateral partners and counsel, coaching on new opportunities. Engage client contacts/lawyers to obtain feedback and drive improvements. Develop and manage practice budget; evaluate and track ROI on BD initiatives. Track and report on the status of BD initiatives and events. Ensure marketing and communications strategies align with BD goals. Maintain knowledge of market trends, competitor activities, and client behaviors to inform strategy. Collaborate with Experience team to capture matter experience in the Firm database. Collaborate with Strategic Intelligence on client, industry and competitive intelligence for BD opportunities. Supervise and mentor BD team members on pitches, proposals, descriptions, bios, directory submissions and event logistics. Monitor time, attendance, overtime and expenses in line with Firm policy. Ensure ongoing professional development for business services professionals. Oversee assigned employees' performance and provide guidance in problem resolution. Participate in interviewing, selection and training; utilize performance management processes to coach and manage performance. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge of industry best practices, trends and techniques. Experience with relevant software (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRMs; ability to learn new software. Knowledge and implementation of the annual budget process. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; strong client service orientation. Ability to build rapport with partners; strong project management, independent judgment and decision-making. Analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience leading and supervising others; ability to administer Firm policies and procedures. Ability to work independently and in a team; trustworthy with confidential information. Fiscal responsibility and consistent high performance. Flexibility to travel and to adjust hours as needed to meet business needs. Education & Experience Minimum of seven years of directly related experience in a law firm or professional services environment, including one year of supervisory or leadership experience.
