Return Polymers Wilmington Recycling is seeking a Senior Level Maintenance Technician with a strong electrical background and proven ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues at the hardware level. This role serves as the go-to escalation point when other technicians cannot resolve problems. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with electrical circuits (24VDC, 110VAC, 480VAC 3-phase), VFD programming and troubleshooting, and is equally comfortable working with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Basic knowledge of ladder logic and control systems is a plus but not required. This senior-level technician ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operations while supporting the maintenance team with technical expertise, sound decision-making, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Electrical Troubleshooting Expert Diagnose and repair electrical issues across 24VDC, 110VAC, and 480VAC 3-phase systems. Safely work in and around electrical cabinets, following all OSHA, NFPA70-E and company electrical safety standards. Drives & Motor Controls Program, configure, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor controllers to ensure reliable operation. Multi-Disciplinary Troubleshooting Work unassisted to identify and resolve issues with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Serve as the senior-level problem solver for escalated issues. Controls & Logic Support Use a working knowledge of ladder logic and control circuits to assist in diagnosing control and process-related issues (programming not required, but experience is a plus). Preventive & Corrective Maintenance Lead the completion of preventive and corrective maintenance activities through the CMMS. Collaborate with production and maintenance leadership to prioritize work orders. Documentation & Interpretation Read and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings to support troubleshooting, installations, and modifications. Mentorship & Collaboration Support other technicians by sharing expertise, guiding troubleshooting efforts, and working cross-functionally with production, engineering, and contractors. Fabrication & Improvements Apply minor fabrication, welding, or machining skills to develop practical, reliable solutions for production challenges. Success in This Role Looks Like Complex electrical or mechanical problems are quickly diagnosed and resolved when escalated. VFDs, motor control systems, and plant equipment are properly configured, programmed, and maintained for reliable operation. Preventive maintenance tasks are executed on time and deliver measurable improvements in up-time. Electrical and mechanical documentation is consistently used and maintained. Recognized as the senior problem solver on the maintenance team; the trusted technician when others get stuck. Required Qualifications Experience: 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in fast-paced manufacturing. Electrical Expertise: Skilled with troubleshooting 24VDC, 110VAC, and 480VAC 3-phase circuits; extensive experience with troubleshooting breakdowns and finding the root-cause. Mechanical Knowledge: Proficiency with motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Controls Knowledge: Familiarity with ladder logic and PLC troubleshooting at the hardware level (programming is a plus, but not required). Documentation: Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings. Systems & Tools: Proficiency with CMMS (preferred: e-Maintenance), Microsoft Office, and digital troubleshooting tools. Fabrication: Ability to perform minor fabrication, welding, or machining. Soft Skills: Strong decision-making ability, analytical problem solving, and ability to work cross-functionally. Education High School Diploma or GED (required). Certification, trade school training, or vocational coursework in Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (preferred).
