Overview
UNMH Psychiatry departments has an opening for Advance Practice medical provider (FNP, PA, AG-ACNP) for our inpatient hospitalist team. We offer medical service for our admitted adult patients currently 5 days a week and there is potential to expand to weekends. There is also opportunity to have clinic time in our primary care clinic that services our adult psychiatric population.

Location: Albuquerque, NM (reference postings show multiple related roles in the area).
Responsibilities
Function in an inpatient / urgent care area of advanced practice as practitioner, mentor, consultant, educator, researcher and manager; establish goals and priorities aligned with patient needs and organizational objectives.
Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Manage patient care across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups as applicable.
PATIENT CARE - Assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans; implement treatment, follow-up and evaluate patient within scope of practice protocols.
PATIENT CARE - Perform patient history and physical exams as needed for procedures or admissions; document findings with pertinent normal and abnormal findings.
PATIENT CARE - Complete admitting orders, daily rounds, consultations, discharge summaries, transfers, medication management and related orders.
PATIENT CARE - Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; order and interpret diagnostic tests; explain procedures to patients and families.
PATIENT CARE - Revise intervention plans with patient and family to achieve improved health outcomes; provide education on preventative care and prescribed treatment.
DOCUMENTATION - Accurately document patient care, orders, directives and responses in the medical record; maintain confidential records and communicate with the care team.
PATIENT CARE - Collaborate with medical, nursing and counseling staff to provide comprehensive care and continuity of care.
EDUCATION - Guide and support nursing and medical staff; serve as a clinical resource.
TRAINING - Precept nurses, other advanced practice providers and physician assistant students; model professional behavior and ethical decision-making.
RESEARCH - Support or participate in research and incorporate findings into clinical practice.
DEVELOPMENT - Engage in ongoing professional growth through educational programs, literature review, in-services and workshops.
PATIENT SAFETY - Follow safety policies and proactively seek improvements; identify environmental risks and report safety concerns and near misses in a timely manner.
PATIENT SAFETY - Encourage patient participation in their own care and understanding of treatments.
Qualifications
Education: Program graduate; Accredited Advanced Practice Nurse.
Experience: Essential – 1 year directly related experience; Nonessential – 1 year psychiatric experience; Bilingual skills (English, Spanish, or other listed languages) may be relevant. Specialization in applicable area with 3 years directly related experience is noted in some postings.
Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS; ACLS or PALS as applicable within 30 days of hire; NM Advanced Practice Nurse License; Prescriptive Authority in New Mexico; NM and Federal DEA Certification; Pediatric Nursing Certification as applicable.
Physical Conditions: Medium work; ability to move objects requiring 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-25 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs of force constantly in some tasks; physical demands may exceed those for Light Work.
Working conditions: Hazardous materials handling and PPE; notice requirements for rehire; TB testing upon hire and as required.
