Overview
Women’s Crisis Services of Leflore County, Inc. (WCS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and accredited member of the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office. We provide life-changing support and advocacy for women and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Our mission is to create a community where survivors are heard, supported, and empowered to live free from violence. WCS serves as a critical resource for Leflore and surrounding counties—offering shelter, advocacy, education, and prevention services to promote healing and hope.
Position Summary The Executive Director provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and community engagement for WCS. While the Shelter Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the shelter and client services, the Executive Director focuses on strengthening partnerships, expanding funding opportunities, and guiding the overall mission and sustainability of the organization.
The ideal candidate is a passionate advocate for survivors, an effective fundraiser, and a collaborative leader who can inspire staff, engage the community, and ensure WCS continues to thrive as a trusted local resource. This is a full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work for events, outreach, or fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Organizational Management
Provide overall leadership and strategic oversight for programs, staff, and services.
Supervise, support, and evaluate the Shelter Manager, who handles daily operations and staff management within the facility.
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop policies, strategic plans, and organizational goals.
Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and funding requirements.
Promote a trauma-informed, survivor-centered culture across all programs.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
Serve as the public face and spokesperson for WCS within the community.
Build and maintain relationships with civic leaders, businesses, donors, and partner organizations.
Represent WCS in local and regional coalitions addressing domestic violence and family safety.
Oversee public awareness, prevention, and educational initiatives to strengthen community understanding of WCS’s mission.
Fundraising & Development
Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising plan.
Research, write, and manage grant applications; ensure compliance with grantor requirements.
Cultivate and steward donor relationships, sponsors, and community supporters.
Work closely with the Board of Directors to expand fundraising capacity and philanthropic outreach.
Financial & Program Oversight
Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Ensure responsible financial management and transparent reporting.
Oversee program planning, evaluation, and impact measurement.
Conduct annual community satisfaction surveys and share results with the Board and stakeholders.
Facilities & Operations
Provide strategic oversight of shelter operations managed by the Shelter Manager.
Ensure the facility is safe, welcoming, and conducive to healing and empowerment.
Support continuous improvement in service delivery and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
Master’s degree
in Social Work, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or Sociology (required);
Bachelor’s degree
with
2+ years
of related experience considered.
Experience working with law enforcement, DHS/CPS, or related social service systems.
Demonstrated success in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and community engagement.
Strong communication, networking, and public speaking abilities.
Experience in grant writing and financial management preferred.
Collaborative leadership style with strong problem-solving and mediation skills.
Passionate about advocacy, equity, and community-driven solutions.
