About the team The AV ML Infra team at GM builds ML infrastructure designed to meet the unique demands of AI and ML innovation, supporting a wide range of use cases across teams such as Embodied AI, Simulation, Data Science, and more. We enable scalable and efficient ML experimentation, enhance the productivity of ML engineers, and drive the adoption of cutting‑edge ML techniques.

AI Validation & Inference: Ensures robust model performance by running large‑scale simulation workloads and managing reliable ML inference pipelines.

ML Compute: Streamlines and optimizes large‑scale ML training and inference across cloud and on‑prem compute resources.

AV Pipelines & Lineage: Automates ML workflows while tracking data and model lineage across diverse infrastructures, accelerating engineering velocity and ensuring reproducibility.

Position Overview As an Engineering AI/ML Manager for AV ML Infra, you will lead a small team of engineers, helping them deliver high‑quality ML infrastructure while developing strategies for growth and execution. You'll ensure the team is effective, collaborate across functions, and foster a culture of technical excellence.

Note: This role is part of an ML infrastructure engineering team and does not involve applying machine‑learning models for specific tasks. The focus is on developing infrastructure products that empower GM teams to perform machine learning and data science at scale.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead and mentor engineers within the AV ML Infra team.

Hire and grow engineers, supporting career development and team expansion.

Ensure smooth execution by organizing team structure and processes effectively.

Promote engineering best practices and maintain high‑quality product standards.

Collaborate with other GM teams to enable safe, reliable, and efficient ML workflows.

Contribute to planning and strategy for AV ML infrastructure growth.

Build a positive, collaborative team culture with focus on learning and career growth.

Represent GM values and help foster engineering culture.

What You Must Have

2‑5 years of management experience (leading an engineering team).

BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.

Strong software engineering background.

Experience shipping production‑quality software for complex projects.

Comfortable collaborating in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Bonus / Preferred

Experience with ML platforms, Kubernetes, or distributed computing.

Familiarity with autonomous vehicle ML workflows.
