Atlanta, GA (Hybrid – 4 days in office, 1 day remote) Overview: Our Utilities client is seeking a mid-level Data Scientist to join its Business Development team. This individual will support advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives aimed at improving strategic decisions and business performance. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in data science techniques, thrives in collaborative environments, and is passionate about turning data into insights that matter. Key Responsibilities: Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights using statistical and machine learning techniques. Design and develop predictive models (regression, classification, clustering, etc.) to forecast business outcomes. Create effective data visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, or Python libraries to communicate findings to stakeholders. Conduct hypothesis testing and A/B testing to evaluate and validate business strategies. Perform feature engineering to enhance the performance and accuracy of machine learning models. Develop and optimize machine learning algorithms (e.g., decision trees, random forests, neural networks). Integrate data from various sources in collaboration with IT and database teams. Deploy machine learning models in production environments to support real-time decision-making. Ensure ethical data usage and compliance with relevant data privacy regulations. Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to align solutions with organizational goals. Mentor junior data scientists and analysts. Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices through continuous learning. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s/Ph.D. preferred). 5–10 years of experience in data science, analytics, and machine learning. Proficient in Python, R, or Julia for statistical analysis and model building. Experienced with SQL and working with large databases. Familiarity with big data tools and distributed computing frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark is a plus. Skilled in visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Python libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn). Strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to present complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Visa sponsorship is not available). Seniority level
