The HR Generalist supports the Human Resources department in all aspects of the employee lifecycle, with a primary focus on recruitment, onboarding, and employee support. This position works closely with hiring managers and employees across departments to ensure a positive and compliant employee experience. The HR Generalist plays a key role in maintaining HR systems, documentation, and communications to support the company's operational and cultural goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Recruiting & Hiring

  • Manage all recruiting activities from job posting through onboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers to create, update, and maintain accurate job descriptions that provide a realistic job preview for applicants.
  • Post open positions on internal and external job boards and manage applicant flow through Paylocity.
  • Review applications, screen candidates, and conduct preliminary interviews to assess qualifications, experience, and fit.
  • Coordinate interview logistics between candidates and hiring teams, ensuring timely communication throughout the process.
  • Conduct reference checks, coordinate background checks and drug screenings, and manage pre-employment documentation.
  • Prepare and send offer letters and new hire packages.
Onboarding & Orientation
  • Conduct new employee orientations covering training schedules, job duties, benefits, company policies, and workplace expectations.
  • Coordinate with department managers to ensure onboarding plans, training, and necessary equipment are in place.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state new hire reporting requirements.
  • Support a smooth transition for new employees and monitor engagement during their first 90 days.
HR Administration
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including personnel files, I-9s, and HRIS data.
  • Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee status changes.
  • Support HR compliance efforts by ensuring documentation, policies, and postings are current.
  • Generate HR reports and assist with audits as needed.
  • Process Payroll in absence of HR Manager
  • Serve as a resource to employees for routine HR questions regarding benefits, policies, and procedures.
Employee Relations & Support
  • Help coordinate employee communications, engagement activities, and recognition programs.
  • Support performance management and training initiatives under the direction of the HR Manager.
  • Assist with investigations, corrective actions, and exit interviews as assigned.
Miscellaneous
  • HR projects (such as internship program, collaboration with local community colleges about apprenticeship programs, wellness program, teambuilding events).
  • Serve as backup for HR Manager.
  • Other tasks assigned by HR Manager or Managing Director.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Administration Management, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in recruiting, training and development, and performance management.
  • Familiarity with federal and state labor laws and employment regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS/ATS systems. Experience with Paylocity is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
