The Head of Service provides clinical supervision to help guide and develop the skills of a mental health treatment team working in a Short-Term Residential Treatment Program. The caseload is comparatively small and travel is minimal. We assist adolescent children and young adults to overcome their behavioral challenges and heal from the past traumas that are holding them back from reaching their goals. Our model is brief, intensive and results oriented in order to assist our clients to transition to a lower level of care. You will oversee the quick and accurate assessment of the needs of our clients, the development of a comprehensive treatment plan, and the ongoing treatment provided by a tight knit group consisting of clinical and non-clinical staff members. This is a challenging job, but the impact that you will have on our youth, and our staff, will be immeasurable.
*Qualifications*
* Must be a registered, licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist in good standing. * Must pass an extensive background check. * At least three years of experience working with troubled youth. * Be able to complete and oversee the development of mental health assessments, treatment plans, and the delivery of mental health services to adolescents and young adults. * Be able to competently guide professional growth and the delivery of intensive mental health treatment services delivered by psychotherapists, case managers, rehabilitation specialists, and parent partners. * Be able to interact and effectively communicate with psychiatrists, substance abuse counselors, residential staff members, social workers, probation officers, licensing bodies, and other treatment team members.
*Responsibilities include:*
* Overseeing mental health services provided to youth housed in a Short-Term Residential Treatment Program. * Services include mental health assessment, psychotherapy, case management, rehabilitation, crisis intervention, and Child and Family Team Meetings. * Approving the documentation of mental health services following the standards set by the Department of Mental Health in Los Angeles County using an Electronic Health Record. * Providing supervision and trainings to clinical staff in individual and group settings. * Providing disciplinary measures, when required, to the staff on your team. * Modeling strong leadership skills and emphasizing the importance of team work and open communication between various clinical and non-clinical staff members. * Interacting and teaming with the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of Probation, and various licensing bodies. * Identifying and interviewing prospective new residents when there are openings. * Overseeing the timely completion of assignments based on Quality Assurance audits and report findings. * Attending mandatory trainings and meetings. * Providing On-Call Assistance on a rotating basis. * Providing direct mental health services when a Facility Therapist is unavailable.

The Head of Service reports directly to the Assistant Executive Director.
