ADJUNCT – HOSPITALITY: The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need, and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community. Courses may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes. Minimum Qualifications
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Culinary Arts, Baking/Pastry, Hospitality Management or equivalent from an accredited school. Three (3) years experience in the field. Current ServSafe Manager or Texas Certified Food Manager certification for lab instructors required to instruct Culinary and/or Baking/Pastry courses. Some courses require three (3) years supervisory experience in the hospitality field. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success. Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities. Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts or related field. Current American Culinary Federation Certification (For CHEF and PSTR courses). Experience teaching at the secondary or college level. Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas). Special Instructions to Applicants

Strong organizational, communication, and demonstration skills necessary to be an effective teacher. Assess and evaluate student performance fairly, consistently, and in a timely manner. Ability to plan course instruction including lesson plans based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to ensure course content and objectives are met. Ability to use variety of teaching styles, methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles of students to achieve their educational goals and course outcomes. Maintain course records including gradebook, census reports, syllabus, and submission for transcripts. Employment Type
