Job Description The Process Engineer is responsible for design, testing, troubleshooting, and overseeing implementation of process improvements focused on productivity. Additionally, you will support others on the plant team with solving technical issues.
The Process Engineer supports the Materials Technology plant on site at the Curtis Bay plant in Baltimore, Maryland and reports to the Site Technical Manager.
Curtis Bay is a 24/7 365 Manufacturing site.
Responsibilities
Develop expertise in plant processes and equipment to become a primary resource for troubleshooting and identifying improvement opportunities.
Support process improvement projects from definition of requirements, through design, execution, and tracking the benefits.
Conduct daily plant walkthroughs and inspections to assess process conditions and to identify and address issues.
Work with Process Technology team to plan and carry out plant trials for new products and new processes.
Conduct and support commissioning and startup activities, including PHA, PSSR, MOC, writing SOPs/work instructions, and providing training to other plant personnel.
Lead data driven RCCA for process deviations, downtime, and EHHS events.
Assist with developing project pipeline with data analysis by facilitating process mapping, or value stream mapping events.
Physical Requirements And Environment
Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator.
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
Required Qualifications
BS in Chemical Engineering or related technical field.
5 years in chemical manufacturing or related process industry.
Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in project management processes.
Continuous Improvement education or experience, e.g. LEAN, Six Sigma.
Experience leveraging data driven analysis to enhance manufacturing processes.
Process control system experience.
