Full-Time Description:

Reporting to the Director of Student Finance, the Administrative Assistant provides high-level administrative support to the Office of Student Finance. This position serves as a source of information for prospective and current students and assures the smooth operation of the day-to-day activities of the office. This position requires the use of independent judgement in planning, prioritizing a diversified workload, and regular communication with students, faculty, physicians, and administrators at Hofstra University, the School of Medicine, and Northwell Health. A flexible work schedule, including some early mornings and late evenings, may be required to support extended student services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides high-level administrative support to the Office of Student Finance, including managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, preparing meeting materials, the maintenance of the financial aid database and other records, as well as routine office duties. Responds promptly to high-volume email and phone inquiries from current and prospective students, escalating as needed. Schedules meetings and counseling appointments for the Office of Student Finance. Assists with the collection and processing of financial aid application documents to determine eligibility for Federal and institutional aid programs. Collects various student financial aid request forms and reviews for accuracy and completion prior to processing. Updates financial aid communications including web updates, forms, newsletters, standard email correspondence and application language; coordinates student email and survey campaigns. Acts as a liaison among the Office of Student Finance, School of Medicine and other school and University offices. Ensures regulatory and procedural compliance for Federal, University, School, and private programs. Collaborates with other administrative staff members to cover absences, provide relief to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise balance the workload within the team. Performs other related duties and special projects assigned. Qualifications: Minimum one-year experience in an office environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and related software tools. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. Must be able to work independently and demonstrate a high degree of judgement, discretion, and confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: A basic understanding of federal financial aid programs and regulations is preferred. Experience with Ellucian Banner is a plus. Special Instructions

$56,000 - $60,000 Additional Information Hofstra University provides the above salary as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.
