This position, the SQL Database Administrator will manage and modernize our Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments across enterprise and research systems. This role focuses on performance optimization, automation, and secure data management in a hybrid on-prem/Azure environment. The ideal candidate will support ongoing modernization projects, ensuring scalability, compliance, and system resilience within a large academic healthcare setting.
Responsibilities: Manage SQL Server and Azure SQL databases (monitoring, tuning, and automation). Develop backup/recovery and disaster recovery solutions. Enhance database performance and automate routine tasks with PowerShell and Azure Monitor. Support secure data pipelines and integration with clinical and research systems. Collaborate with app and infrastructure teams to support modern data initiatives.
Qualifications: 5+ years of SQL Server administration (Azure SQL, T-SQL, PowerShell). Hands-on experience with cloud migration or modernization projects. Knowledge of HIPAA, SOC 2, and data compliance frameworks. Preferred: Experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Defender for SQL.
