We have shifts mornings, nights, and weekends. This role requires engaging with children, families, and staff to support YMCA programs in a safe, welcoming environment. Responsibilities
Implements curriculum within the established guidelines. Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child. Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents; engages parents as volunteers. Maintains program site and equipment; ensures the area is safe. Maintains required program records. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. Uses Daxko Engage technology to build relationships with members and children; encourages and sells programs. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations, and child abuse prevention. Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests. Inspects the physical space to ensure safety, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness of facilities. Qualifications
Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Previous experience with diverse populations; ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. Must pass Level 2 Background Screening (fingerprint check through FDLE and FBI). Physical Demands: Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
