The
Software Engineer I
will be part of Apex's Apex Leadership & Development Program (ALDP), designed to enable success through an intensive 6-8 week cross‑functional training program to learn financial services and align to a specific department. The program is designed for new graduates and will provide ongoing education and career development. The Software Engineers are free to explore unique solutions and try fresh ideas that may benefit our financial services and trading businesses and our investment companies.
This opportunity is expected to begin July 2026 at our Austin, Texas office location.
Duties / Responsibilities
Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Develop features and remediate defects using modern languages and frameworks.
Produce clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code with appropriate unit, integration, and end‑to‑end test coverage, ensuring build quality through CI/CD.
Participate in code reviews, feature designs and scrum ceremonies.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including engineering, product management, and design to clarify requirements, estimate work, and deliver according to agreed timelines.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues; implement logging, metrics, and alerts to enhance observability and operational resilience.
Contribute to technical documentation, including APIs and design artifacts.
Develop a deep understanding of Apex's business domain, industry context, architecture, codebase, and technical ecosystem.
Support innovation by evaluating and recommending improvements to processes and tooling, and appropriately challenging assumptions to drive continuous improvement.

Required Skills / Abilities
Experience in a modern object‑oriented programming language such as Java, Go, Python, or C#.
Experience with an RDBMS.

Ability to relocate to Austin, TX.
Excellent problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
Effective communication skills.
Previous knowledge in financial markets not required, but interest is a plus.
Adaptability and willingness to try new things.
Education and/or Experience
Graduation date scheduled in Fall 2025 to Early Summer 2026.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum requirement of a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
