Overview Quality Lab Technician at Tilray Brands, Inc. / SweetWater Brewing Company. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our beer products.

Responsibilities

Keep “quality always” as an integral part of day-to-day operations at SweetWater Brewery.

Follow minimum sampling plan for daily sample collection for microbiological, physchem, packaging, and sensory analysis.

Perform data entry and trend analysis using Excel/SmartSheet software.

Follow SOPs to ensure testing/analysis is completed accurately and consistently.

Participate in the development of food safety programs as an active member or coordinator of the HACCP team.

Audit processes including SOPs, CIPs, HACCP, GMPs, and brewery sanitation audits.

Follow reaction plans for out-of-spec product and report non-conformities to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

Own blocking program with full understanding of all aspects.

Perform/assist in preventative cleaning and maintenance on lab instruments.

Micro Program – use aseptic techniques for microbiological samples and become proficient with tools such as flow hoods, vacuum filtration, PCR, and autoclave.

Yeast Management – assist in propagation, harvesting, and health of the brewery’s yeast strains.

Perform in-process fermentation checks (ABV, ABW, SG, RDF, AE, calories via AP alcoholometer; manual IBUs & color via spectrophotometer; VDK analysis via Forced Diacetyl Testing; microbiological samples).

Perform packaging/kegging line QA checks (TPO/CO2 via AP PFD/CBox, fill weights, seam inspection, OQI inspections, sensory analysis via DraughtLab).

Set up routine sensory panels and manage the sensory program to foster continuous education.

Use data to drive process improvements across the brewery.

Minimum Qualifications

Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and techniques.

Familiarity with quality control principles and procedures.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Previous experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a food or beverage industry, is a plus.

Flexibility to work multiple shifts (day/swing) throughout the week.

Education

College Degree in Chemistry or a related field.
