Overview
We’re looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to oversee the financial health and day-to-day accounting operations of our growing marketing agency. This role goes beyond traditional bookkeeping—you’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate financials, managing job costing, processing payroll, and creating custom journal entries to ensure our financial systems support both operational efficiency and strategic growth. You'll work closely with leadership to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and help drive profitability as we scale. What You’ll Do
System:
Work within Workamajig to maintain accurate project financials and data Data Management:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, payments, and expenses. Bank Reconciliations:
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other ledgers to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Accounts Receivable (AR):
Generate accurate client invoices, billing reconciliation, monitor A/R aging and drive collections. Accounts Payable (AP):
Own vendor bill intake, schedule and execute payment runs; and maintain vendor files/W-9s. General Ledger:
Prepare and post journal entries, adjusting entries, accruals, and reclassifications as needed. Reporting:
Support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements and management reports. Job/Project Costing:
Manage project/job costing tasks to ensure proper expense allocation and project profitability tracking. Collaboration:
Collaborate with CPAs by providing schedules and supporting documentation. Collaboration & Leadership:
Collaborate with leadership to manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Payroll:
Manage payroll for employees and contractors, including tracking PTO and handling compliance. Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements and system efficiencies. Other:
Perform additional tasks as assigned. What We’re Looking For
5+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial operations within a marketing, creative, or service-based agency (Workamajig a plus). Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) or similar accounting software, with hands-on experience preparing journal entries. Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles. Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication; able to manage multiple priorities. Comfortable in hybrid / remote roles, adaptability to learning new systems. Tech-savvy; quick to learn new systems (Workamajig experience is a plus, training provided). Who Fits Best?
