Overview
Patient Service Coordinator Ambulatory I - Community Clinic, East Lake Clinic at
Hennepin Healthcare . This full-time role will primarily work on-site (Days, M-F) and focuses on providing a welcoming experience for patients and their families while meeting patient expectations related to front desk procedures and registration processes. Responsibilities Welcomes patients and guests in a friendly manner, following Hennepin Healthcare expectations
Provides navigation assistance to patients and guests
Uses the electronic health record for patient check-in, registration, and check-out; handles point-of-service collections (co-pays, self-pay, outstanding balances); verifies insurance accuracy via Real Time Eligibility (RTE) and Benefit Engine
Maintains a neat and sanitized personal workspace and patient waiting areas
Manages patient financial transactions: cash box, cash collections, credit/debit card transactions, daily reconciliation
Supports clinic efficiency and promotes the organization
Provides clerical support to clinical staff, including processing patient forms and urgent scheduling needs
Provides scheduling support for contracted providers and specialty departments
Supports providers with requests and urgent needs
Manages special patient needs upon request
Maintains Clerical Pool in-basket messages; completes messages based on SLA and urgency
Receives and creates encounters for medical forms and delivers them to the clinical team
Assists with processing time-sensitive patient needs, such as patient forms
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent
At least one year of experience in a related field and/or six months of medical clerk experience
One year of customer service experience
Preferred Qualifications Ability to work with diverse backgrounds
Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
Ability to respond to shifting priorities and prioritize work
Consistently meets quality and productivity standards in patient registrations, scheduling, and customer service
Understanding of organizational policies and procedures
Technical proficiency in basic computer skills and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office and Outlook)
Ability to work independently and in a team
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities 6 months of previous HHS experience
Associate Degree (Healthcare or Business) or 2 years of customer service experience in a similar clinic/ambulatory healthcare environment
Certification from HFMA OR NAHAM OR HBI Patient Access Certification
Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) – Epic preferred
Understanding of medical terminology
Experience with different payers/insurance requirements
Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish or English/Somali or other languages including ASL (not required)
