Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should have an earned Ph.D. in public administration or public policy or a related field by August 2026.

Position Summary The Department of Public Administration and Policy in the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Georgia invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position (with appointment to begin in August 2026) specializing in governance and policy implications of energy systems and/or energy security in the transport sector (i.e., road, rail, maritime, air, intermodal, pipeline, space). The department seeks scholars who are dedicated to research, teaching, and student mentorship and who will contribute to the strengths of our undergraduate and graduate public administration and policy degree programs. Affiliation with the energy security policy team in the Benson-Bertsch Center for International Trade and Security is possible for a finalist with relevant expertise and interest.

Additional Requirements Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Ideal candidates will have will have research and teaching interests in areas such as (but not limited to) innovation and technology policy as it relates to electrification and the transition to net-zero energy systems; policy implications of rising electricity demand and potential impacts on the transport sector; public finance, policy, and regulatory dimensions of electric mobility; policy and management challenges of battery production for the transport sector; policy implications of U.S. non-competitiveness in electric vehicle production; health and environmental implications of decarbonization; and public management of the transition to net-zero energy systems. Evidence of high-quality research, an active research agenda, and a commitment to excellence in instruction are necessary. We are especially interested in candidates with demonstrated success in securing external research funding.
