Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Geotechnical Engineer II to join our Cortez operation. The successful candidate will assist in developing and guiding projects to support short and long term mine plans.

Responsibilities
Strong understanding and experience with open pit blasting techniques and controls
Hands-on experience with data collection and assessment of rock mass and rock defect strength properties
Strong understanding of stiff soil properties, anisotropy and effects on slope design
Working competence in Rocscience suite of surface stability software programs
Understanding of 3-D geologic model inputs and development, and impacts on slope stability
Experience with bench scale and inter-ramp scale slope design compliance
Must be able to work in a team environment
Clear and concise communication and liaison skills with various personnel levels
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering or related field required
3-5 years hands-on geotechnical experience at an active open pit mine site preferred
Demonstrated ability for developing and sustaining short term and long term projects preferred
Supervisory experience of engineers and technicians preferred
