SuperApex LLC
Overview
SuperApex LLC is a leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance RF and microwave components serving the telecommunications, defense, and research industries. Our product portfolio includes GaAs MMIC amplifiers, GaN power amplifiers, microwave circuits, and precision RF subsystems operating up to 65 GHz. With headquarters in the U.S. and operations in Malaysia, SuperApex is driven by R&D innovation, quality manufacturing, and deep technical expertise. Location:
Libertyville, Illinois Salary Range:
85k - 135k Position Overview
We are seeking a
self-motivated and detail-oriented RF/Microwave MMIC Design Engineer
to join our R&D team. The ideal candidate will be capable of working
efficiently both independently and collaboratively , with a strong ability to
learn new tools, concepts, and design techniques quickly . This role involves designing, simulating, and characterizing MMICs and related RF subsystems, and collaborating closely with packaging, testing, and production teams to deliver high-performance solutions to market. Key Responsibilities
Design and simulate RF and microwave MMICs using GaAs/GaN technologies up to millimeter-wave frequencies. Perform linear and nonlinear circuit design, optimization, and EM co-simulation (e.g., with ADS, HFSS, CST). Develop and validate models for active and passive components, including S-parameter and large-signal behavior. Collaborate with packaging and test teams to ensure design manufacturability and reliability. Conduct lab measurements and data analysis for design verification and performance validation. Prepare detailed technical documentation, simulation reports, and product datasheets. Contribute to new product introductions and continuous performance improvements. Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Microwave Engineering, or a related field. 2+ years of experience in RF/Microwave or MMIC circuit design (GaAs or GaN preferred). Proficiency in RF/microwave simulation tools (ADS, AWR Microwave Office, HFSS, CST, Momentum). Strong foundation in amplifier design (LNA, driver, power), impedance matching, and bias network design. Familiarity with RF measurement equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and noise figure meters. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects efficiently, and meet deadlines. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively across R&D and production. Proven ability and willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment. Preferred Experience (Plus but Not Required)
Experience with Antenna-in-Package (AiP) or module-level integration. Familiarity with ISO 9001 workflows and technical documentation standards. Knowledge of III-V semiconductor processes (e.g., GaAs pHEMT, GaN HEMT). Experience in high-frequency test automation using Keysight PathWave, BenchVue, or similar Keysight RF test environments. Proficiency with Keysight ADS for MMIC and RF circuit simulation. Why Join SuperApex
Work on advanced MMIC and microwave technologies up to 65 GHz. Collaborate with a world-class engineering team spanning the U.S. and Asia. Opportunities for growth in design leadership and R&D innovation. Competitive compensation and performance-based incentives. Details
