Maintain a strong program of research and scholarly activity in the realm of school counseling and pursue external grant funding opportunities. Develop and teach graduate-level courses online, face-to-face, and in blended learning environments. Mentor graduate students, serve on graduate student committees, and supervise graduate student research. Play an integral role in collaborating with colleagues, students, and alumni to maintain a strong program community and identity. Provide service to the program, department, college, and profession. Support and participate in the CACREP accreditation processes in the Counselor Education Program. Supervise students in clinical practicum settings and maintain/develop relationships with area schools. Qualifications
Candidates
for this position must hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education (preferably from a CACREP-accredited program) and meet CACREP core faculty eligibility requirements. Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include experience working as a school counselor, teaching in a graduate counselor-education program, teaching in online settings, working with a student body from all backgrounds, providing supervision to school-counseling students, and participating in CACREP accreditation processes. Candidates with evidence of strong scholarship and extramural research grant funding in areas of school counseling are strongly preferred. Other Information
The Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems in the Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at Florida State University is seeking a tenure-track school counseling faculty member in the combined M.S. and Ed.S. Counselor Education program. The Counselor Education Program offers an online CACREP-aligned School Counseling program and in-person CACREP approved programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Career Counseling. We are looking for an outstanding candidate with preferred school counseling experience along with training, knowledge, and professional identification in counselor education. The roots of FSU’s Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health and Human Sciences date back to the university’s establishment, and it is the oldest college of its kind in Florida. Recently expanded in 2023, the College is home to six academic departments united through a common goal to maximize human potential. In total, the College includes the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, Department of Educational Psychology & Learning Systems, Department of Human Development & Family Sciences, Department of Health, Nutrition & Food Sciences, Department of Sport Management, School of Teacher Education, numerous research centers, and three laboratory schools (FSU School, FSU Pembroke Pines Charter School, and The Collegiate School at FSU Panama City). The successful candidate will demonstrate aptitude and commitment to a program of research and have experience seeking external funding for research activities. Candidates should have experience teaching and mentoring graduate students, show commitment to maintaining a counselor identity, and have desire to be fundamentally involved in the Counselor Education Program. We seek a candidate who will contribute to strengthening program quality, increasing student recruitment, and assuring continued accreditation. The successful candidate will also present evidence of quality teaching of core school-counseling courses, and of engagement with school-counseling professional associations at state or national levels.
