Eastman Kodak is looking for a Coating Engineer to join our Battery Coating Division onsite in Rochester, New York. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of Kodak's transition into the rapidly expanding lithium-ion battery market. Come join us and be part of the transformation to clean energy!
This position will be part of a team that operates both pilot and production-scale RTR facilities at the Eastman Business Park in Rochester, NY. This facility provides both experimental and production coating services to support the new products and technologies in the battery and energy industries. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with roll-to-roll pilot and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Working knowledge of web conveyance processes.
Knowledge of gravure and slot die coating processes.
Working knowledge of solution delivery system design.
Knowledge of powder handling, solution and dispersion mixing.
Work with external Kodak customers to gather information to develop a viable RTR process for their products.
Design coating event variables to identify process conditions unique to each product.
Manage multiple customers on a weekly basis.
Ability to create detailed work instructions to operational staff to execute the experimental or production plan.
Work with process engineering and operational staff to solve problems during the development process.
Work with Kodak HSE community to use management of change processes to develop safe process steps and procedures for each customer’s process development.
Skills required
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills (cause/effect).
Experience with Design of Experiment tools and statistical methods.
Able to work independently and in team environments.
Good team player and willing to learn and change course when needed.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor's of Science, mechanical or related discipline.
Experience in a chemical and manufacturing environment.
Focus on safe work practices and HSE.
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of basic solution properties measurement (viscosity/rheometry, surface tension, etc).
Roll to roll manufacturing processes.
Slitting and calendaring.
Solution mixing and delivery equipment.
