ABB is hiring a Field Application Engineer (FAE) to support its Electrification business in the Louisiana trade area. In this customer-facing role, you’ll provide technical support to consulting engineers, end users, EPCs, and design-build firms, helping ABB products achieve preferred status in project specifications.
Your Role And Responsibilities
The work model for the role is Remote. This role is contributing to the Electrification Business in the South Region. Main stakeholders are the Houston District C&I Team. Collaborate with consultant, end user, utility and EPC/DBC engineers to define electrical project needs, supply design assistance, product selection, value engineering, budgeting & provide education on ABB solutions to gain acceptance of the same into project specifications. Review and assess project specifications and end-user customer requirements to deliver electrical solutions including one-line electrical diagrams, schematic diagrams, lay-out & equipment drawings, equipment specifications and project budget pricing for Low and medium voltage applications. Develop accurate estimates of the electrical project budget plan for designers, and incorporating best practices. Provide local support in the following products and applications: MV/LV switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, motor control, power monitoring, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling switchgear (PSG), generator circuit breakers and more. Have a working knowledge of short circuit, coordination and arc flash mitigation concepts and the ability to illustrate their benefit via tools such as SKM or Easy Power. Create and edit presentations for Lunch & Learns and regularly use SFDC. Educate customer and confidently present complex technical concepts to engineers, contractors and users. Share customer feedback on new product opportunities, product gaps, and market trends with commercial and product management leadership. Act as a Product Champion in your area. Be willing to travel: 25% of the time and visit customers in local area regularly. Blend of power systems design and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to engineers, account managers, contractors, and channel partners. Self-motivated to learn about all ABB products/solutions and their value propositions in EL. Enjoys problem-solving and has a customer development mindset. Team player who can build internal relationships and earn the trust of account managers, peers, and product and factory resources. Time management & priority setting will be a challenge with many groups looking for internal and external technical support. Self-directed & accountable – must be able to set daily/ weekly objectives without daily direction. You will join an experienced, thoughtful and dynamic team, where you will be able to thrive. Minimum Qualifications
B.S. degree in engineering; preferably electrical with a minimum of five years of experience in the electrical distribution industry. Strong interpersonal skills. Able to consider multiple viewpoints and resolve technical issues. Fluent in English; speaking and writing. Enjoy problem solving and new customer development. Self-starter - accountable for results and able to work without detailed direction. Ability to multi-task effectively on projects and assignments. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, PPT, Excel, Visio Capability to establish and nurture partnership relationships with the regional engineering consulting community is required Desired Qualifications
