Overview

The Medical Lead Veterinarian of Mission Pet Health (MPH) is responsible for continuous pursuit of Medical Excellence encompassing patient care, client service excellence, lifelong learning, and hospital efficiency. This key leader models behavior for all associate veterinarians and provides coaching and mentorship in the ongoing pursuit of Medical Excellence. The Medical Lead works with the Practice Manager (PM) to foster collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement, creating a safe and enjoyable atmosphere that supports teamwork and retention. In collaboration with the Regional Medical Director, the Medical Lead and PM develop an annual operating plan to advance Medical Excellence and total hospital performance. A successful Medical Lead leads with a growth mindset, servant leadership, and clinical excellence, leveraging MPH network resources to recruit and achieve hospital goals. The Medical Lead contributes to hospital total performance in revenue growth, PCT growth and consistency, increasing pet visits, client Net Promoter Score (NPS), and employee satisfaction and retention. The Medical Lead may serve in a dual role as the Hospital Director. The following duties and responsibilities reflect expectations for this position and are not all-inclusive; percentages are guidelines and may vary based on clinic needs determined by the Hospital Director. Responsibilities

Veterinary Duties (80-90%) Perform duties included in the associate Veterinarian job description. Achieve specific production goals as elected in hospital’s annual planning. Maintain veterinary excellence by attending annual CE, striving for continuous improvement, and leading innovation within the veterinary team. Medical Lead Duties (10-20%) Consistently role model Medical Excellence, setting the example for the highest quality of medicine, client service, education, and efficiency. Establish excellent relationships with all doctors to support engagement, retention, medical and surgical skill development, compassion fatigue abatement, and leadership modeling that serves. Manage the veterinarians in the hospital, including regular performance discussions, reviews, hiring, firing, discipline, and corrective actions. Conduct regular coaching conversations with the veterinarian team to support ongoing development, including production report and PCT review. Support the Practice Manager in establishing doctor schedules to meet client needs for convenience and availability. Participate in the interview process for associate veterinarians and other staff as needed to support PM. Attend annual conferences and participate in networking events as appropriate. Attend hospital staff and leadership meetings as appropriate. Hold monthly hospital doctor meetings to discuss topics such as product selection, laboratory strategy, and educational pieces in pursuit of medical excellence, and to explore new procedures and services to grow the business. Promote a culture of teamwork with high eNPS, understanding individual differences and leveraging unique skills. Promote and model a culture of recruitment and mentorship; supervise internship, externship, and mentorship programs. Serve as an ambassador for the hospital and MPH through community engagement. Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and DEA regulations and best practices for controlled substance handling in collaboration with the PM or Inventory Manager. Support MPH initiative rollouts at the hospital level and uphold MPH Core Values and Mission Statement. Education, Licenses, Certifications, and Experience

(required to fulfill essential duties, include computer skills as required) Doctor of Veterinary Medicine; minimum of 2 years’ practical clinical experience. Understanding or willingness to learn financial and operating management of the hospital. Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
