Legal Administrative Assistant (California experience required) We are seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Administrative Assistant with California experience to join the team at Fisher Phillips, a premier international labor and employment law firm. This essential role will support our attorneys in delivering exceptional client service and upholding our commitment to excellence, primarily in a remote setting. Key Responsibilities Provide secretarial and administrative assistance to attorneys, ensuring efficient operations within the Virtual Office Team. Handle court filings, prepare pleadings, and maintain organized files. Demonstrate the ability to draft standard pleadings, correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents. Review and ensure the accuracy of vendor invoices, preparing check requests, and submitting invoices for payment. Apply client-specific billing guidelines to ensure effective practices. Exhibit strong clerical skills in typing, transcribing, word processing, and managing contacts and data. File court documents accurately, following local and specific judge requirements. Use judgment and organizational skills to manage information for clients and assigned attorneys. Proofread all documents to guarantee accuracy and completeness before distribution or filing. Anticipate the needs of assigned attorneys to enhance time management efficiencies. Track client deadlines and calendar appointments diligently. Coordinate logistics for meetings such as depositions, mediations, and interviews. Prepare and submit client intake forms accurately. Maintain and update client files and pleading indices regularly. Manage attorney-specific case lists and monitor the status of cases. File client-related emails promptly and accurately. Develop and maintain systems to ensure organization and efficiency. Understand and comply with file management and record-keeping policies. Effectively monitor and manage deadlines. Requirements High school diploma required (College degree preferred). A minimum of five years of experience as a legal secretary is required. State and federal court filing experience (manual and electronic) is essential. Experience with legal filing procedures in California is crucial. Familiarity with Lexis Nexis, PACER, ECF, and other docketing systems is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of legal terminology and processes within the Litigation Department. Typing speed of at least 65 words per minute. Strong proficiency in MS Office and document management systems. Flexible availability for alternate schedules or overtime for later filings. Demonstrated understanding of litigation processes. The expected annual salary range for this position is $62,000 - $77,000, reflecting experience and skills.
