Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role involves handling both accounts payable and receivable processes. You will be responsible for managing supplier and customer invoices, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining up-to-date records. Your contributions will be critical in supporting month-end financial close activities and enhancing the efficiency of our accounting operations.
Responsibilities
Handle the processing of 400–500 supplier invoices monthly, ensuring accuracy and timely disbursements. Match purchase orders, delivery confirmations, and invoices to validate transactions. Initiate and manage electronic payments and transfers. Maintain up-to-date vendor records and respond to inquiries promptly. Reconcile payables and resolve discrepancies. Generate aging reports and assist with month-end financial close activities. Create 100–150 customer invoices monthly across a small client base. Accurately apply incoming payments to customer accounts. Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts. Communicate with clients to resolve billing issues. Provide aging summaries and support forecasting efforts. Contribute to monthly closing procedures.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of experience in AP and/or AR functions. Familiarity with ERP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong reconciliation skills for both customer and vendor accounts. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Willingness to work overtime during month-end close.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a production or manufacturing setting. Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Work Environment
The position offers a hybrid work schedule with one day at home and follows a 9/80 schedule, providing flexibility and work-life balance. You'll be working alongside a senior and stable team, including a staff accountant with 15 years of experience, a cost accountant with 5 years, and payroll staff with 5 years. The company is experiencing growth with significant revenue and major defense contracts, creating a positive and collaborative work environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62400.00/yr.
Medial, Dental, Vision, and 9/80 schedule
Workplace Type
This is a hybrid position in San Diego,CA.
