Overview

Manager, Systems & Technology at the Bloomberg Center for Cities, Harvard University. Reports to the Director, Operations and Systems. This role oversees the suite of systems and tools that enable the success of the team and faculty, ensuring smooth and reliable operation of internal systems, software, and technology services. The Bloomberg Center for Cities serves a global community focused on improving public management, leadership, and governance. The center collaborates across Harvard to inform and inspire local government leaders, researchers, students, and practitioners who work to improve the lives of residents worldwide. Responsibilities

Systems Administration Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls; optimize configuration of software applications; identify and implement enhancements in collaboration with university partners. Apply IT policies and best practices to ensure reliability, security, and efficiency; provide first-rate technical support to staff using HKS IT resources as needed. Maintain systems inventory and technical documentation; generate performance/usage reports; ensure cost efficiency; serve as primary contact for application vendors. Salesforce Support Collaborate with the school's CRM team to provide technical support, facilitate data imports, and make configuration updates. Perform admin-level tasks for the center (list views, data cleanup, reports, dashboards). Provide end-user training on universal tasks (logging activities, report templates, creating contacts). Support Salesforce development projects through all phases from requirements to user acceptance testing, deployment, and adoption. Asset Management Oversee IT procurement, ensuring timely acquisition, distribution, and replacement of assets. Maintain accurate inventory for computers, phones, and IT accessories. Support users with booking systems, conference room media/technology setup, and loaner equipment; collaborate with HKS IT and Media Services to resolve issues efficiently. Operational Support and Projects Support operational systems and workflows (forms, ticketing system, SharePoint pages, file management, automation, etc.). Assist with distribution lists and shared mailboxes; support IT projects by gathering requirements, reporting progress, and recommending product/configuration/design choices. Support adoption of emerging technologies, especially AI-powered tools, to improve productivity and service delivery; help staff integrate AI into project workflows. Collaborate with team members on ad-hoc projects to achieve operational excellence. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: Minimum of two years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience. Additional Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant IT experience (support specialist, systems coordinator, DBA, business systems analyst, or equivalent). Advanced knowledge of enterprise software (Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Slack, Airtable, Dropbox) preferred; hands-on Salesforce administration and configuration experience a plus. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies; familiarity with IT support processes, ticketing, and project management tools. Familiarity with AI-powered tools and emerging technologies; ability to evaluate applicability and assist colleagues in integrating them into workflows. Strong attention to detail, collaborative mindset, and ability to work across a cross-functional team; self-motivated, proactive, and analytical. Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable guidance. Understanding of computer hardware, audio/visual equipment, operating systems, and networking is a plus; strong interpersonal skills and integrity. This is a fully benefits-eligible term appointment through June 30, 2026, with possible renewal. Standard Hours/Schedule:
