Job Summary

Reporting to the Dean of Technologies, the Culinary Arts Faculty teaches an average of 15 credit hours per semester, including on-campus, off-campus, high schools (dual enrollment/Middle College), or online as assigned. This faculty member will support Culinary Arts Workforce Development training and assist the Program Director with program coordination, including ordering supplies, supervising internships, and overseeing capstone projects. They will assist in curriculum development and evaluation, provide academic advisement, and promote communication with transfer institutions, professional associations, and other external constituents to support student success.

Job Duties Complete required reports such as attendance and grade submissions.

Complete annual performance review and maintain related records.

Teach assigned courses via on-ground, online, hybrid, or web-enhanced modalities.

Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment, and distance-based courses as required.

Develop curriculum, evaluate, and review departmental courses.

Promote communication with transfer institutions, professional associations, and other external constituents to support student success.

Evaluate and monitor progress to achieve individual and unit goals and objectives.

Interact effectively with stakeholders. Routine Instructional/Curriculum Objectives.

Teach an average of 15 equated hours per semester (day or evening; on/off campus).

Commit to a minimum of 37.5 hours per week and maintain office hours as determined by college officials; notify the appropriate dean of any commitments affecting effectiveness.

Generate a minimum of 300 student credit hours per semester.

Assist the dean in developing the departmental schedule of classes.

Recommend adoption of course textbooks in collaboration with other staff.

Assist with the implementation of departmental exams and standardized tests when beneficial.

Participate in faculty development activities to improve professional effectiveness.

Participate in evaluation of instruction via peer, student, and self-evaluations.

Provide copies to the dean of syllabi and final examinations of courses taught.

Supervise laboratory and other instructional activities in a professional manner.

Meet all classes as scheduled; address deviations promptly through appropriate channels.

Assume responsibility for examinations and other evaluations to determine student performance.

Collaborate with Library personnel in resource material selection and distribution.

Respond in a timely fashion to deadlines.

Cooperate with other areas of the college to provide an effective educational program. Routine Curriculum Objectives.

Develop and recommend new courses and programs of study as needs arise.

Recommend modifications or discontinuance of courses or programs when appropriate.

Assist Advising Resource Center by advising students regarding department-related issues. Routine Administrative Support.

Assist in budget preparation and expenditure requests; initiate requisitions for supplies and equipment.

Request professional travel in support of faculty development.

Oversee equipment assigned to the faculty member or others under supervision.

Recommend custodial and maintenance needs to dean for instructional facilities.

Assist in preparing proposals for special, federal, state, and private projects and grants.

Attend divisional faculty meetings and participate in academic discussions.

Complete requested assignments; attend officially called assemblies or faculty meetings.

Provide academic advisement for students and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.

Assist in marketing/recruiting activities and participate in faculty evaluation processes.

Serve on committees as appointed and perform other duties as assigned.

Other objectives related to problem solving, professional growth, or community service identified with the dean to support institutional goals.

Minimum Qualifications By time of appointment, at least an Associate degree in Culinary Arts or a related field from an accredited institution.

Current ServSafe certification.

One year of professional experience as a full-time culinary or hospitality professional.

One year demonstrated teaching experience in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management within a secondary, post-secondary, or professional setting.

Preferred Qualifications More than one year of relevant professional experience as a full-time culinary or hospitality professional.

More than one year teaching experience in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management within a secondary or post-secondary institution, or professional setting.

Current ACF certification.

Community college teaching experience.

Experience with curriculum and/or course development.

Recent national or international competition experience.

Teaching experience with technology including online tools and mobile devices.

Conversational ability or fluency in a second language.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Technology Skills: MS Office Suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems

Ability to work with students who represent a wide range of academic ability.
