Perdue Foods is seeking a Production Supervisor to manage the daily operations of hourly associates responsible for the receiving of finished goods, order processing production and/or shipping of all products leaving the warehouse. The supervisor ensures all USDA, QA, facility management standards of quality, production, safety, ergonomics, Human Resources and related goals are met. Summary

Our Prince George, VA team is looking for a Production Supervisor to manage the daily operations of hourly associates who are responsible for the receiving of finished goods, order processing production and/or shipping of all products leaving the warehouse. Supervisor must also assure all USDA, QA, facility management standards of quality, production, safety, ergonomics, Human Resources and other related facility and department goals and objectives. Responsibilities

Safety and Risk Management

Enforce safety protocols, ensure team compliance with safety standards and maintain a safe working environment for all associates. Conduct regular safety training, risk assessments and incident investigations to prevent workplace injuries. Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure team compliance with safety standards.

Food Safety and Quality Standards, Regulatory and Environmental Compliance and Continuous Improvement

Maintain compliance with all food safety regulations and company policies, including HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation protocols, to maintain a safe and high-quality production environment. Ensure all products meet or exceed established quality specifications through adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Lead corrective actions for non-conformances and drive initiatives to reduce waste, contamination risks and product recalls. Implement and monitor quality control processes, including inspections, audits, and corrective actions. Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, including OSHA, ISO standards, and industry-specific requirements. Collaborate with leadership to execute lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce costs. Identify and implement process improvements to boost operational efficiency and product quality. Verify the facility adheres to environmental laws and regulations including air and water quality, waste disposal and hazardous materials management.

People Development, Engagement and Leadership

Mentor and coach team members on enhancing skills while managing performance and development. Foster a collaborative, inclusive and engaged team culture aligning with company values and leadership behaviors, promoting associate growth. Drive associate engagement and retention.

Production Oversight

Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet schedules, customer specifications, output goals and quality standards. Collaborate with maintenance to monitor equipment performance and operational issues to minimize downtime. Optimize labor, raw materials and equipment usage to ensure cost-effective operations while meeting production standards.

Reporting and Communication

Maintain accurate production records including output, quality metrics and associate performance and attendance. Provide regular updates to management on production status, challenges and opportunities for improvement. Act as a liaison between production teams and other departments such as engineering, quality assurance and supply chain.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 2–3 years in a manufacturing environment with 1+ year in a supervisory role. Bachelors/Associates degree candidates with no manufacturing experience must have at least 1+ year of supervisory experience.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

An Associates or Bachelors Degree (highly preferred) Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a focus on associate development In-depth knowledge of quality control processes and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA) Awareness and willingness to learn lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies Excellent problem-solving, organizational and time management skills Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

Poultry or Protein production experience Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, OSHA 10/30 or similar certifications

Environmental Factors And Physical Requirements

May move and handle light equipment or supplies as required May access files, supplies and equipment Plant environment may include wet and moist floors, metal and plastic grating surfaces Possible exposure to temperatures from 28 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with humidity variations May handle product at temperatures from 25 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit Noise levels may range from 50 dB to 110 dB Exposure to chemicals used in poultry and food processing facilities Must wear and use protective and safety equipment as directed by the Company Perdue Farms Inc. is an Equal Opportunity employer.
