CHI . Work in the heart of #humankindess at CHI St. Joseph's Health. As our OR PACU Registered Nurse (RN) you'll be responsible for providing comprehensive post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures. The PACU RN will monitor patients' vital signs, manage pain, assess for complications, and ensure a safe and smooth transition to the next phase of their recovery.
Responsibilities Monitoring patients’ conditions and assessing their needs
Collaborating with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients
Administering patients’ medications and providing treatments according to physicians’ orders
Fostering a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families
Provide direct patient care in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU)
Continuously monitor patients\' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation
Assess patients\' pain levels and administer pain medication as prescribed
Evaluate patients for post-operative complications, such as bleeding, infection, and respiratory distress
Implement appropriate interventions to manage complications and ensure patient safety
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and support
Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control protocols
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
Assist with patient discharge planning and ensure a safe transition to home or another care setting
Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Proficient with airway management
Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
Qualifications Current RN license that allows you to practice in Minnesota
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be obtained within one year of hire
Preferred Surgery experience preferred

Pay Range
$39.63 - $53.29 /hour
