Job Summary We are a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP); building automation; and industrial piping contractor. Our team offers a variety of MEP and process piping services, including design-build engineering for new construction and renovation, installation and specialty construction, maintenance, and air balancing, start-up, and energy efficiency services.

The Technical Training Specialist delivers in-person and virtual training on Building Automation systems, develops and updates training materials, and customizes content to meet diverse audience needs. This role ensures alignment with ESAC standards through collaboration with engineering and installation teams, supports system upgrades and programming tasks, and conducts quality assurance inspections. Responsibilities also include tracking employee progress, staying current with industry trends, and leading short technical presentations as part of a voluntary "Lunch & Learn" program.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Provide in-person (possibly virtual online) technical product training programs to employees, customers and/or field support personnel.
Provide technical training that generally includes standardized courses and may also include customized components to fit customer needs.
Develop, maintain, and update training aids and materials.
Deliver product demonstrations and conduct training sessions on technical information.
Maintain contact with Graphics engineering, Software engineering, Hardware engineering, and Installation departments to maintain company standards and product requirements to ensure training programs delivered align with ESAC standards and expectations.
Schedule and track training progress for assigned employees.
Convey technical information to a varied audience of technical and non-technical trainees.
Provide an understanding to students on how Building Automation hardware, software and networking are installed and implemented in the field.
Stay updated on product and technology changes within ALC and the Building Automation Industry.
Develop 20–30‑minute technical topics/presentations to implement a voluntary "Lunch & Learn" program for employees to attend virtually.
Assist the Service department with maintenance agreement WebCTRL system upgrades.
Assist the Software Engineering department with EIKON equipment programs as needed.
Perform onsite inspections for quality assurance and ensure ESAC standards are being maintained.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Instructional Design, or a related technical field.
Significant experience in relevant fields may be substituted for education requirements.
3–5 years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, or technical training.
Certifications such as HVAC Technician, BAS Professional, or relevant instructional design credentials (e.g., CompTIA CTT+).
Experience with WebCTRL, EIKON, or similar building automation platforms.
Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
Strong skills in developing multimedia training content (e.g., video tutorials, interactive modules).
Experience conducting quality assurance inspections or working in a field service environment.
Ability to manage and deliver training programs across multiple locations or virtually.
Language Skills Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.
Physical Demands & Work Environment This role requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while delivering training sessions or working at a computer. Occasional lifting of training materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs) may be necessary. The position may involve travel to customer sites or company locations for on‑site training and inspections. Work is typically performed in an office, classroom, or virtual environment, with occasional exposure to active construction or mechanical spaces during field visits. The employee must be comfortable working around building automation hardware and systems and adhering to safety protocols in technical environments.
