Role purpose
The Senior Sales Manager will lead a team of Account Managers to drive strategic growth and deepen customer relationships across a defined regional territory and a diverse portfolio of customers. The role combines new business development with management of existing accounts, delivering tailored solutions and revenue targets through coaching, territory planning and cross-functional collaboration.
In addition to driving sales performance, the Senior Sales Manager will oversee a sales team—monitoring performance, providing coaching, and ensuring targets are met. The role includes gathering customer feedback, conducting market research, and delivering strategic insights and reports to senior leadership. Stay informed on product developments, competitor activity, and market trends. Regular regional travel is expected (approximately 30-40% per year).
Key Responsibilities
Directly manage, coach and develop a team of Account Managers covering all accounts in the assigned territory.
Promote AVEVA software products and services by managing a team calling on existing and prospective customers in the territory.
Develop and manage the account team through frequent, direct engagement with clear expectations and priorities for individual and team success.
Coach Account Managers on effective use of CRM and achieving goals including software license sales, maintaining a healthy pipeline, and managing all aspects of accounts for ongoing maintenance and services revenues.
Assist Account Managers with the development and maintenance of Territory plans, individual Account Plans and a consistent pipeline.
Ensure individuals utilize centralized company resources to support success.
Engage with customers to develop and maintain broad and deep relationships essential to AVEVA’s success.
Establish and maintain relationships with key decision makers, including accounts overseas where applicable.
Coordinate marketing and business development activities for the region (events, seminars) with the VP of the Market and the Director of Marketing to maximize sales impact.
Address key customer complaints and provide complex technical application assistance as needed.
Leverage AVEVA global alliances and local partner relationships to positively influence purchases.
Develop knowledge of AVEVA’s core industries (Utilities, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Metals & Mining, Paper, Life Sciences) and apply AVEVA technologies to meet customers’ business goals.
Maintain and develop the customer pipeline following stage-gate forecasting and within AVEVA’s CRM system, including accurate forecast management.
Maintain personal knowledge and skills with AVEVA products and sales support applications per annual training requirements.
Lead by example with appropriate activity, behavior, discipline and performance across the role.
Practice financial management in line with company guidelines, including budgeting and timely use of company systems and tools.
Essential Requirements
Industry knowledge relevant to the territory (Utilities, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Metals & Mining, Paper, Life Sciences).
Significant direct sales experience in complex, B2B Enterprise Software.
Significant sales management experience in DACH/CEE markets.
Excellent leadership, coaching and team management skills.
Familiarity with Salesforce and the MEDDPICC sales framework.
Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills; German at least C1.
Desired Skills
Engineering degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or related field.
Other local language skills are advantageous.
