Overview Instructional Designer (Full-Time, Tenure-Track) at Madera Community College. The District may fill more than one position from this pool.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction in Instructional Design on the Madera Community College campus and/or at off-site locations; collaborate with faculty and staff to plan, design, develop, and test courses and programs.

Partner with the Distance Education Coordinator to ensure courses meet compliance and quality standards.

In collaboration with the Distance Education Coordinator, create customized online training on best practices for online pedagogy for distance education.

Provide consultative support and training to faculty on instructional design, pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment design and evaluation, and integrating technology into curriculum and services.

Develop and deliver workshops and professional development sessions on instructional technologies and educational best practices.

Research, evaluate, and assist in the selection, testing, and implementation of hardware, software tools, and emerging technologies that enhance teaching and learning.

Develop and distribute learning materials in multiple formats to support instruction; create and publish user documentation for supported instructional technology tools.

Research and identify grant opportunities related to instruction, faculty support, and online programs.

Identify instructional needs and recommend appropriate strategies; stay current with emerging instructional software, technologies, and pedagogical practices by attending relevant conferences and seminars.

Provide training and support to faculty on accessibility standards and practices, including Universal Design for Learning and ADA Section 508 compliance; provide training in universal design for learning, course design, and best practices in various modalities.

Provide training and support with the Learning Management System (Canvas) and oversee the multimedia studio to support faculty in creating instructional content.

Participate in accreditation processes and serve on department, college, and district committees as needed.

Participate in program review, outcome development and assessment to improve student learning; fulfill duties as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; perform other related duties as assigned. Assignments may occur in the evening, on weekends, online or off-campus as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, with a commitment to equity-minded practice in the classroom.

Master’s in instructional design/technology or educational technology; or a valid California Community College Credential; or the equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency).

Note: If degrees posted on transcripts do not exactly match the minimum qualifications, petition for equivalency is required.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities; experience with racially minoritized students and culturally diverse settings.

Ability to communicate effectively; proficiency with eLearning development tools (e.g., Captivate, Articulate, Camtasia, Panopto, Adobe Creative Suite) and multimedia software.

Experience online instruction and/or certification in online instruction; ability to work with multimedia studios and various instructional technologies; familiarity with Microsoft Office and web/media-based technologies.

Conditions of Employment 178 duty days per year; duty days prorated based on start date. Starting salary is $71,054 – $106,970 based on education and experience. An annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. Benefits include medical, dental, vision for employee and dependents, life insurance, and CalSTRS retirement.
