Join Comerica Bank as a Commercial Banking Associate in Houston, TX. This role is part of the Commercial Banking Development Program, an accelerated 20‑month rotational program designed to develop well‑rounded Relationship Managers with strong credit and relationship‑building skills.
Commercial Banking Development Program
20‑month rotational program that includes formal credit training and two sales‑focused rotations within the Commercial Bank.
Professional career development through assessments, coaching, team building, and mentoring.
Exposure to senior and executive leadership in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
In‑depth knowledge of lending and non‑lending products (Treasury Management, Wealth Management, Foreign Exchange, Global Capital Markets).
Lines of Business: Business Banking and Middle Market. May require commuting to different office locations.
Position Responsibilities Phase I: Credit Rotation
Prepare loan approval packages and conduct underwriting analysis in partnership with Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers.
Provide complete analysis of loan approval packages for new credit requests and annual portfolio reviews.
Analyze financial information to identify key strengths, credit risks, and mitigating factors.
Determine appropriate loan structures and banking solutions to meet customer needs.
Monitor credit exposure for portfolio relationships.
Phase II: Sales Rotations
Analyze and structure debt facilities, conduct relationship reviews, create marketing plans, and conduct industry research.
Observe and participate in prospect and customer calls.
Participate in sales, workload, and loan committee meetings.
Learn risk mitigation processes and understand various risk and compliance aspects.
Gain understanding of loan documentation and closing processes.
Develop understanding of Comerica’s full product and service portfolio.
Program Completion
Successful completion of all credit and sales training coursework and practical application across all rotations.
Prepare a final project presentation demonstrating Sales and Credit skills learned in the program.
Initial placement as Relationship Manager I, First Level Officer.
Placement may require relocation and is subject to business needs and performance, with consideration of individual preferences when possible.
Position Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
One year experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field.
Overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum 3.0 GPA in two accounting courses.
0–2 years of relevant experience.
This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with indefinite employment authorization.

Work best category: Category C – Days in the office 2–5 days per week, flexible.
Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
