Overview
The Heavy Equipment Operator operates a variety of equipment to lift and transport bulk materials and to load trucks or railcars. Equipment may include front-end loaders, dozers, graders, rollers, excavators, dump trucks, vacuum or water trucks, and other related machines. Abides by safety policies and procedures while performing duties. Responsibilities
Comply with Eco Material Technologies Safety Policies and Procedures Perform pre-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working condition and report defects or malfunctions to maintenance personnel Operate different types of equipment (front-end loaders, dozers, graders, rollers, excavators, dump trucks, vacuum or water trucks) as required Execute tasks related to site preparation, excavation, earthmoving, and material handling according to project plans and supervisor instructions Perform routine maintenance on equipment (checking fluid levels, lubricating moving parts, cleaning) Move equipment in confined spaces and around obstacles in various weather conditions while maintaining safety of personnel and property Load and unload materials using appropriate attachments and techniques to prevent damage or injury Coordinate with supervisors and coworkers; communicate progress and address issues during operations Maintain regular attendance and demonstrate scheduling flexibility Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in operating various heavy equipment (bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, etc.) Basic knowledge of machinery maintenance practices for inspection, lubrication and minor repairs Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions Works well with others; follows instructions and coordinates tasks with coworkers Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions Strong verbal communication skills for conveying instructions and reporting issues Attention to detail for grading, digging, and material handling Responds promptly to customer needs Time management and productivity Adheres to safety and security procedures, using equipment and materials properly Reliable and punctual Willingness to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime Ability to adapt to changing job site conditions and project priorities Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade 1–2 years of experience in a relevant field Essential Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Exposure to loud noises Ability to withstand temperature extremes Prolonged standing or sitting Repetitive movements Ability to bend or twist Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds Ability to move or traverse the facilities Work around dust, chemicals, and other substances in varying environments Wear required PPE (hearing protection, eye protection, hard hat) This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, or working conditions.
