North Carolina State University
Postdoctoral Research Scholar
North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, 27601
Overview
The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will serve as a member of the Office of University Interdisciplinary Programs ( OUIP ). The successful candidate will take a macroecological/big data approach to consider questions related to university outcomes. These outcomes may include student success, disruptive science, and innovation. Often, attempts to measure and develop programming around university and student success are largely a-quantitative.
We seek a candidate who can identify metrics and model these phenomena. For example, metrics of student outcomes could include graduation rates, time to graduation, salary upon graduation or, well-being. Similarly, metrics related to disruptive science could include the number of patents produced versus the number of faculty and per capita funding. These models would be used to identify universities that are outliers in success-related outcomes for potential future case studies. We hope that this base approach could be applied to future studies on additional topics, such as resilience against the COVID pandemic and more.
The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will also receive dedicated support for their personal and professional growth. The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will receive mentorship, support and opportunities from the OUIP to develop their skills, knowledge, and networks necessary for a successful transition to the next phase of their career. Through guidance and opportunities, the OUIP will ensure their continued success both within our institution and in their broader professional journey.
