Work Schedule: To be determined Job Location: North Carolina State University Department: Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering About the Department The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC) offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering, including accelerated BS/MS degrees. Current research areas include dynamic systems and controls, vibrations, biomechanics, design optimization, smart materials and structures, precision engineering, MEMS/NEMS, advanced manufacturing, aerodynamics, UAV flight research, materials, renewable energy, combustion, hypersonics, propulsion, space exploration systems, and computational fluid dynamics. The department has 49 tenure-track faculty, six non-tenure track faculty, 16 staff, and over 1,100 undergraduates and 400 graduate students. position. The primary responsibility is to deliver high-quality undergraduate and/or graduate instruction during fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Instructional areas may include core topics in mechanical and aerospace engineering, as well as emerging fields aligned with the department’s goals. Applicants are encouraged to specify courses they are qualified to teach or propose specialized topics aligned with their expertise. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and effective course content for undergraduate and graduate students in alignment with educational objectives. Develop and prepare course materials, assignments, and assessments to foster critical thinking and problem solving. Provide mentorship, academic support, and career guidance to students. Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance and modernize course offerings in line with industry trends and research advancements. Incorporate innovative teaching methods and technologies to support diverse learning styles. Participate in department meetings and contribute to curriculum development and program planning. This is a part-time, contract position contingent on departmental needs. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Senior Lecturer must have at least 5 years of college-level teaching experience and a Master’s Degree or an equivalent degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering; or a Doctoral degree or equivalent in the appropriate field depending on departmental needs. Lecturer must have a Master’s Degree or an equivalent degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering or Doctoral degree or equivalent in the appropriate field depending on departmental needs and qualifications to teach specialty courses. Other Required Qualifications Excellent teaching ability. A commitment to student and program success. Strong foundational knowledge in mechanical and aerospace engineering or related fields. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications Experience in developing and delivering innovative instructional materials, including effective use of instructional technology.
