University Law Enforcement Officer (Police Officer) – University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD. The University of South Dakota Police Department (UPD) is seeking dedicated and community-oriented individuals to join our team as University Law Enforcement Officers (Police Officers). Responsibilities
Patrol the university campus and surrounding areas to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Enforce local, state, and federal laws, as well as university policies and regulations. Respond to calls for service, conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations, and initiate police reports. Perform traffic control and accident investigations as needed. Conduct educational activities related to safety and crime prevention. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies on campus-related incidents. Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records. Train and mentor other officers and employees in law enforcement duties. Perform other duties as assigned to support the safety and well-being of the campus community. Work a rotating schedule, with shifts including: Midnight to 8 AM, 8 AM to 4 PM, 4 PM to Midnight. Deputization through the City of Vermillion Police Department is required. Minimum Qualifications
Must meet the minimum standards as outlined in SD Administrative Rule Chapter 2:01:02:01. Ability to work effectively in a campus law enforcement setting. Strong communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Job Details
