Facility:
Level I Trauma Center, Operating Room
Contract Length:
13 weeks (Start: 11/24/2025 – End: 2/23/2026)
Shifts:
Day shifts, 6:30am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday
Schedule:
4x10 hour shifts per week, 40 hours/week
On-Call:
Up to 2 overnight calls per week and 4 weekends per contract
Unit Details:
16 OR suites, 35-50 surgical cases per day
Surgical Specialties:
Cardiac, vascular, thoracic, neuro, ortho trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, transplants
Scrubs:
Provided by facility
Estimated Weekly Salary:
$2560 - $2750
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum 3 years of recent hospital Operating Room RN experience (outpatient experience not accepted)
Level I trauma center experience required
Strong proficiency in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical cases
Previous travel nursing contract completed within the last 12 months (no first-time travelers)
Scrub nurse experience required
Experience with EPIC EMR system
Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
At least 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
Circulate and scrub for a wide range of surgical procedures, focusing on cardiac and trauma cases
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care
Maintain efficient operating room turnover (goal: less than 20 minutes)
Float between all hospital campuses as needed
Participate in on-call rotation, including overnight and weekend shifts
Accurately document patient care and surgical procedures using EPIC EMR
Comply with hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols
