Schedule: Full Time Shift: Evening - 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm (including rotating weekends and holidays) Location: 5101 Willow Springs Road, La Grange, IL 60525 Your Role: As the MLS Laboratory Manager, you will oversee the operational management of our clinical laboratory, providing direct leadership to technical associates and supervising pre-analytic processes as required. You will leverage your expertise to perform various testing in the analytical laboratory, ensuring all procedures adhere to clinical relevance. The impact you'll make: Lead the clinical laboratory's operations, managing staff and ensuring efficient workflow. Schedule and monitor staff performance, optimizing laboratory efficiency. Act as a liaison with other laboratory departments and hospital services to enhance collaboration. Oversee hiring, training, appraisals, and corrective measures for team members. Investigate and resolve occurrence reports, compiling necessary documentation and resolving issues promptly. Manage specimen reception, prioritize appropriately, and ensure correct identification and specimen type. Facilitate the implementation and validation of new analyzers, ensuring proficiency testing is effectively conducted and submitted. Monitor quality metrics and engage in continuous improvement to meet established goals, providing additional training as necessary. Assist in resolving unusual test orders by collaborating with reference labs and informing laboratory leadership as needed. Perform a variety of tests within your discipline with high competency, using critical thinking to interpret and correlate data. Lead and participate in laboratory performance improvement initiatives focused on teamwork, engagement, patient satisfaction, and safety. Adhere to safety policies, including PPE usage and hazardous waste handling. May involve transporting hazardous waste to designated secure storage; completion of required training will be necessary. Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: To succeed in this role, you will need: A Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution. A minimum of three years of work experience as a Medical Lab Scientist is required. Preferred: Clinical Laboratory Supervisor certification (SU). Preferred certifications: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLSASCP), Medical Lab Scientist (MLSAMT), Medical Technologist (MTAMT), Medical Technologist (MTASCP), Medical Technologist (MTAAB).
