Overview
GovCIO is seeking a skilled Journeyman Systems Administrator with an active Secret clearance to join our dynamic team. This fully remote position allows you to work from the comfort of your home while making a difference in government IT.
Responsibilities
Ensure optimal operation of computer systems, including operating systems, software, and hardware in various configurations, while maintaining system integrity and performing upgrades as necessary.
Develop and document new methodologies to enhance network and system operations, implementing procedural changes when required.
Collaborate with support teams and customers to troubleshoot issues, coordinating maintenance activities for networks and servers and recommending solutions to reduce problem frequency.
Assist in transitioning development and production environments to new technologies, utilizing system software to monitor performance and assess server installation procedures.
Administer and maintain computer networks and related environments, ensuring all configurations are properly managed.
Implement and manage network/system security measures to protect critical data, software, and hardware.
Conduct regular analyses for both short and long-term planning regarding in-house systems.
Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and prepares clear operational instructions.
Write or adjust basic scripts to resolve performance issues and automate administrative tasks effectively.
Propose enhancements to system and network configurations based on evolving hardware and software requirements.
Qualifications
High School diploma with 6 - 9 years of experience in system administration or a comparable background.
Active Secret clearance and eligibility to attain DEA suitability.
