What’s the role?

People are Bloomberg’s most critical asset — and this is reflected in our approach to benefits. We continually innovate to provide programs that meet the diverse needs of our employees and their families.

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Senior Benefits Specialist to join our Americas Benefits team. This role is a critical specialist position focusing on the design, administration, and compliance of Retirement/401(k) and Leaves & Disability programs across the Americas region.

Based in New York and supporting over 15,000 employees across more than 10 countries, you will lead Retirement and 401(k) programs and administer complex Leaves of Absence and Disability benefits. As the US subject matter expert in these areas, you will also contribute to the broader Americas benefits strategy, advancing Health & Welfare, Wellness, and Work/Life programs.

In this role, you will own the analysis and administration of benefit policies and programs, manage vendor relationships, handle case escalations, and partner with Procurement on contract reviews/renewals. You will also support benefit plan design reviews, collaborate closely with internal HR stakeholders, Benefits Operations, and Payroll teams, and ensure our programs are efficient, compliant, and aligned with employee needs. Success in this role will require strong analytical and decision‑making skills, sound financial judgment, and exceptional project management, communication, and relationship‑building abilities.

As part of the broader Global Benefits team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across EMEA and APAC on global projects and initiatives that could impact over 24,000 employees in over 73 countries. Your excellent communication skills will set you up for success in this fast‑paced environment!

We’ll trust you to:

Lead the strategy, administration, and continuous improvement of Retirement and 401(k) plans, including vendor oversight, audits, plan design reviews, and employee engagement initiatives

Oversee Leaves of Absence and Disability programs across the Americas, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and delivering seamless employee experience

Partner with vendors, HR Operations, Payroll, and Legal on leave and disability escalations, return‑to‑work coordination, and other complex benefits matters

Analyze plan performance, utilization trends, and benchmarking data to drive plan design enhancements and identify improvement opportunities

Ensure all programs comply with statutory obligations and internal governance requirements across jurisdictions

Review and audit benefit programs to assess operational effectiveness and implement process improvements

Serve as the primary contact for complex employee benefits inquiries, exercising sound judgment and providing effective solutions

Research and resolve complex benefits‑related issues and information requests independently

Manage the implementation of new or revised benefit plans, programs, and policies

Lead integrated retirement, health, welfare, and wellness projects across the Americas

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, vendors, and providers to ensure service excellence

Stay current on benefits legislation, industry trends, and best practices, incorporating insights into policies and processes

Partner with Internal Communications to develop and distribute clear, timely messaging about existing and new programs

Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date benefits content on the internal HR portal

You’ll need to have:

Proven expertise in Retirement/401(k) plan administration and strategy, and in managing complex Leaves of Absence and Disability programs

7+ years of benefits administration and advisory experience, including at least 2–3 years in a corporate setting

Experience designing and implementing innovative benefits programs, with strong project management skills

Demonstrated ability to adapt to new challenges and adjust course amid changing statutory regulations, with creativity and flexibility

Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with close attention to detail and accountability for data quality

A strong customer service mindset, with a responsive, collaborative, and “can‑do” attitude

Good judgment — knowing when to elevate issues, balanced with a willingness to be flexible and solution‑oriented

We’d love to see:

Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

Knowledge of data analysis and reporting

Experience managing vendors related to Leave management, Disability claims, and 401(k) administration
